Sermasch work together with Doosan Babcock has extensive previous experience in the field of piping and structural vibration.   Our   team   of   specialists   have   over   250   man   years’   experience  in troubleshooting and managing the integrity of pipework on both onshore and offshore installations in many geographical areas including North Sea, Africa, Middle East, Azerbaijan, Georgia,  Malaysia and Thailand.

 

As industry leaders in the field of vibration, Doosan Babcock were the primary technical contractor for, and co-author of the leading industry recognised document “Guidelines for the Avoidance of Vibration Induced Fatigue Failure (AVIFF) in process pipework” by the Energy Institute. Since the release of the first edition in 1995, the advice contained within the document has been adopted by numerous operators and contractors at both the design and operational phases of their plant. Doosan Babcock has continued to provide expert consultancy on the application of the guidelines through the release of the second edition of the guidelines in the 2008.

 

As part of its overall strategy for reducing vibration induced fatigue failure, Doosan Babcock designed and developed the Pipework Vibration Meter (PVM). The PVM is a hand held, high specification, battery operated, single channel vibration measurement and analysis system for quantifying and classifying pipework vibration levels based on industry standard criteria. The PVM was designed by Doosan Babcock specifically for use by non-expert personnel.

 

As part of a large engineering organisation we are also able to provide a number of specialist complementary services in order to solve more complex problems. Doosan Babcock offers a truly "one stop shop” for dealing with piping and structural vibration issues.
